Wild About Zoo Sauvage: WAZA Welcomes New Canadian Member

The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) has welcomed a new institution member to its global community, and it’s wild about it! The Zoo Sauvage de St-Félicien located in Québec, Canada has officially joined the WAZA family.

Established in 2005, Zoo Sauvage de St-Félicien is a proud member of Canada’s Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA) and Species360. This wild wonderland is home to a diverse array of species, including 105 birds across 27 species, 304 mammals from 43 species, and 14 reptiles from 5 species.

WAZA CEO Martín Zordan expressed his excitement about the new addition to the global community, saying, “WAZA is thrilled to have Zoo Sauvage de St-Félicien as its new member. Their focus on conservation education and animal welfare is immensely valuable for us. We look forward to learning more from their experiences.”

Zoo Sauvage de St-Félicien’s mission is to inspire a love of nature in visitors, and they achieve this through their focus on animal welfare, conservation, education, research, and visitors’ well-being. The zoo’s director of conservation and education, David Pagé, expressed his pride in being recognized by WAZA, saying, “We are extremely proud that WAZA has recognized the Zoo Sauvage de St-Félicien’s quality standards. We look forward to cooperating with other institutions dedicated to the care and conservation of animals.”
