The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) has welcomed back Cleveland Metroparks Zoo as its Institution Member. Cleveland Metroparks Zoo was established in 1882 and spreads across 183 acres in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. The zoo is known for its extensive collection of primates and its commitment to connecting people with wildlife and inspiring them to conserve the natural world.
The zoo has implemented an animal welfare monitoring program that focuses on choice, control, and mental stimulation as essential elements of animal care. This strategy ensures the best possible environments for the animals under their care and is continuously evaluated to provide the best choices for their welfare.
